Captain Black Gold 1 5oz Pouch Premium Tobacco

This is good stuff so I keep buying it. A lot of people on here seem to be having some problems understanding this blend. Gentleman - you're not going into this expecting a premium, hand crafted pipe tobacco.
I may be wrong, but I swear I can taste that in there, which is why cherry blends off well with it I suppose. To me this is the go to comparative for "aromatics". About 15 or so years ago I went on a "craft beer" drinking binge. Thankfully nature saw fit to making corncobs for those of us that would like to try something different but not wanting to screw up a perfectly good briar. Wanted to note that the description above should be "Rich black cavendish and mellowed burleys, exceptionally mild, delightfully aromatic". While often touted as a cheap, disgusting blend I have found this to be a cheap, quite pleasant blend. My uncle has smoked this daily for as long as I can remember, so I have a lot of great childhood memories tied to the aroma of this blend. The smell of this tobacco when you first open it is pure bliss. captain black tobacco Then, after I've finished the pouch, I stopped looking for it as my tastes started to change and I've developed a taste for more premium tobaccos. I’d guess that one reason that people don’t enjoy this is because if they’re strong English smokers, this may very well taste like vanilla and hot air to their pallets. I’ve tried Dunhill - Durbar and smoked this afterward and could hardly taste the CB. It’s not very intense or in your face like some I’ve had and it might take laying off on those stronger blends to adjust to this mild and mellow smoke. So, I was catching up on my PipesMagazine Radio show the other night. I was just smoking it too fast, so my recommendation is to take it easy with this stuff if you're new. I still think it's a great cheapo tobacco, and if it was all I had available I'd smoke it without complaint. One dimensional with not a whole lot to experience. On the other hand this stuff is really good if your smoking it for what its worth. Never bites and its fairly sweet. Its a blend that you just put it in and smoke. It's not a bad smoke by any means, although the flavor is a johnny-one-note. I just prefer a lot more body in the smoke itself. This stuff is great for a poor college student like myself. It's been on the market for a long time and continues to sell. There must be plenty of folks who like it a lot. It's mostly a Cavendish blend, so you get the typical flavored Cavendish vanilla and pleasant room notes. The other components of the blend that are not Cavendish don't stand out. It was those that I had hoped would improve and change the blend into something more interesting given the age of it.
